RC cars are tough, but they are not maintenance-free. Dirt, dust, moisture, and mechanical stress accumulate during every session. Most hobbyists skip post-run maintenance until something breaks, and a five-dollar repair becomes a fifty-dollar rebuild. A ten-minute routine after each session keeps your car reliable.
Cara to Maintain Anda RC Car After Every Run
Blow Off the Dirt
Use compressed air to blow loose dirt off the entire car. Focus on the chassis, shock towers, suspension arms, and around the motor and ESC. Do not use water unless your car is fully waterproofed. Even waterproof electronics can trap moisture in connectors and bearings.
Inspect for Damage
Check suspension arms for cracks, especially near hinge pins. Flex each arm by hand. A cracked arm will fail completely during the next hard impact. Wiggle wheels to check for loose bearings or worn hinge pins. Check the body for cracks around mount holes.
Clean the Air Filter
Brushless motors pull cooling air through vents that collect dust. A clogged fan reduces cooling and shortens motor life. Remove the fan shroud and brush out dust with a soft paintbrush.
Check Screws and Hardware
Vibration loosens screws. Check motor mount, servo, ESC, and shock tower screws. A loose motor mount screw misaligns gear mesh and strips teeth. Apply medium-strength threadlocker to any screw that loosens repeatedly.
Check the Drivetrain
Spin wheels by hand and listen for grinding, clicking, or rough spots. Smooth rotation means healthy drivetrain. Check pinion-spur gear mesh for a tiny amount of play, roughly the thickness of a piece of paper.
Tend to Batteries
Never leave LiPo batteries fully charged after a run. Put batteries on storage charge (3.8V per cell) if not using within a day or two. Inspect leads and connectors for heat damage or corrosion. Replace damaged connectors promptly.
Store Properly
Store with the body off for airflow around electronics. If you ran in wet conditions, leave the body removed for several hours. Remove batteries from the car for storage. This routine takes ten minutes and becomes second nature after a few sessions.
